Bone Stock, Very Clean, Runs Great, Looks Sharp!

This Jetta has had over $4,000 worth of new and recent parts and service including new timing belt and set of Pirelli P7 Cinturato tires, details of which are further down in the description. Keep that in mind when comparing this car to the others listed here.

This is a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg Edition 5-speed four-door sedan finished in Black Uni with the Titan Black interior. It’s best to view this listing on a desktop or laptop computer. A smartphone won’t give you the same details.

The 2016 Volkswagen Jetta is the sixth generation of Jettas first sold in the USA as a 1980 model. Known at the MK6, this model Jetta was sold from 2011 to 2018. In 2015 it received a mild facelift along with some mechanical improvements, and is often referred to as a MK6.5. It is powered by a 1.4 liter Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC) four cylinder Turbocharged Stratified Injection (TSI) engine that has received numerous rave reviews by engineers and the automotive press for its high power output, excellent economy and inherent smoothness. 2016 was the first year this engine was used in the Jetta and it puts out 150 horsepower and more important, an excellent 184 lb-ft of torque from as low as just 1,400 rpm! This replaced the previous year’s 2.0-liter naturally aspirated base engine that mustered an anemic 115 horsepower and an unremarkable 125 lb-ft of torque.

If you are shopping for a MK6 Jetta, you might want to avoid any 2015 and older examples with the naturally aspirated 2.0 liter engine, as the driving experience from the low output engine will be disappointing, especially since the price difference between a 2015 and a 2016 will be minimal.

The 1.4L TSI engine is built using VW’s EA211 modular gasoline engine matrix (Modularer Ottomotoren Baukasten) or MOB. This particular version is code named CZTA. It features an all aluminum engine block and cylinder head for light weight and excellent heat dissipation, cast iron cylinder liners for maximum durability, 4 valves per cylinder with dual overhead cams and variable valve timing for top performance at all engine speeds, high-pressure turbo with intercooler for maximum power and torque even at low engine speeds, direct injection along with 10:1 compression ratio for excellent gas mileage with regular gas, distributorless coil on plug (COP) ignition for reliability in all environmental conditions, and drive by wire electronic throttle for precise control of drivability parameters. Compared to previous VW engines that have numerous issues with timing chain stretch and subsequent engine failure, Volkswagen switched to a much simpler and significantly more reliable timing belt setup for this engine,

The engine is mated to a slick shifting 5-speed manual transmission with a smooth light feeling clutch. This transmission has a low first gear that provides excellent acceleration right out of the gate, while the high top gear allows for effortless highway cruising and excellent fuel mileage. In fact, at 60 mph the engine is only turning at 1,700 rpm. When driven with restraint, you can expect to average around 40 mpg overall, and I’ve been able to get 50 mpg on the highway. (Disclaimer: YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY) That is similar to the mileage the discontinued Jetta TDI diesel could achieve. Combined with the Jetta’s 14.5 gallon fuel tank, it’s hard not to get at least 600 miles between fill-ups.

Not only is the Jetta economical to drive, it’s also economical to maintain. Most systems have low or reduced maintenance components. For example, the timing belt has a 150,000 mile service interval (the timing belt has just been replaced) and the engine has hydraulic valve adjusters so this engine doesn’t need periodic valve adjustments. The cooling system uses extended life coolant also good for 150,000 miles or ten years (also just been changed) and the transmission doesn’t have a suggested fluid change interval but has just been changed as well.

Rounding out the Jetta are brakes, steering and suspension made to carve up twisting roads while still providing a smooth comfortable ride on pot-marked city streets. Start off with a rigid chassis and unit body construction with laser seam welding for a stiff foundation and add in a four-wheel independent suspension with MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link setup in the rear as well as anti-roll bars all around. Add speed-sensitive variable-assist electric rack and pinion steering (EPS) for precise handling and oversize 18 inch low profile ultra high performance tires for maximum cornering grip. For secure stopping there are four-wheel disc brakes using drilled rotors front AND rear with Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) and the Brake Assist System (BAS) that can sense panic stopping and automatically apply all available power brake boost instantly to potentially reduce stopping distances during emergency braking situations. For maximum control in all road conditions, Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) aka traction control along with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Electronic Differential Lock (EDL and XDL) uses the components from the ABS system and the electronic throttle to regulate engine torque to enhance directional control with over/understeering of the vehicle being counteracted by applying brakes to the appropriate wheel to create a countervailing vehicle movement which helps prevent the vehicle from skidding out of control when cornering on slippery roads. Hill Hold assist keeps the brakes engaged for a moment when you move your foot from the brake to the accelerator and prevents the car from rolling back when taking off from an incline. It goes without saying that the Volkswagen Jetta is one fun car to drive, and that it’s quicker, faster and handles better than many other cars in it’s class.

The Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg Edition’s exterior look is upscale and attractive. From its sleek lines and sharp angles incorporating elements from premium European sports sedans, it looks handsome from any angle without being flashy. A quick walk around the car reveals how the Jetta is one of the most stylish vehicles ever created in the mid-size class of automobiles. Start up front with its sharp sleek lines including a piano black honeycomb mesh upper grille with red accent stripe and the red background chrome VW emblem in the middle. The grille is surrounded by clear lens headlights with jewel effect reflectors. The lower air intake grille is flanked on both sides with clear lens fog lights also with jewel effect reflectors. The hood has a curved notch at the front highlighting the VW emblem, then two sharp creases on the sides integrate with the fenders for a muscular look. Next, a steeply raked windshield and sleek fender flares flow into smooth curves along the sides of the car with body colored door handles for a monochromatic look. The mirrors have matte aluminum caps and incorporate chic euro style LED secondary turn signal lights (repeaters) which have a telltale on the inside so the driver can see them flashing. The beautiful Dallas aluminum wheels with bright machine finish faces and angular gloss black spokes, shod with steamroller size tires, add visual appeal. Then, going back, the cars’ lines meld into a raked rear window with a white lens LED center brake light and short trunk lid. In the center of the trunk resides another red background chrome VW emblem, while on the outsides, large angular taillights provide excellent visibility for following drivers, as do the reflectors in the bumper. A pair of polished stainless steel exhaust tips add some bling to cap off the rear of the car.

The exterior is beautiful to look at, but if you like high tech design, the interior is a feast for the eyes. Get in and sit down into a sport bucket seat that adjusts to the perfect driving position with settings for height adjustment and recline. Check out how supportive the side bolsters are and how comfortable the cushions feel. Then adjust the tilt and telescoping flat bottom sport steering wheel to achieve complete driving control. Notice how the racecar inspired flat bottom shape and thickly padded rim affords just the right grip and that the cruise control and multi-function display switches are just a fingertip away. Brushed aluminum and chrome trim add visual appeal. Next, look ahead at the dashboard with the large easy to read gauges including a 160 mph speedometer. If it’s nighttime, turn on the lights and see the night vision red illumination and how quickly your eyes adjust to the light. Look right and left at the titanium trim on the door panels and brushed aluminum door handles, then the chrome trim on the center console as well as on the air vents and radio knobs in the center stack. Finally, glance down at the shifter with its aluminum trim and leather boot and the handbrake with leather boot as well. Look at the sport pedals with stainless steel trim as well as a real dead pedal. Not only is the styling all sport, but all the textures have a rich feel and look and all the switchgear have a precise soft touch action. From the thickly padded steering wheel, the graining pattern on the dash and door panels, or the layout of the knobs and switches on the dash, everything looks and feels like it came from a more expensive car.

Now stick the key in the ignition to instantly start the car, and feel how smooth the engine idles. Next, take it for a spin. Put it in reverse and back out confidently seeing the view behind the car from the backup camera displayed in the infotainment screen. Once out on the road, notice how easily the transmission shifts through the gears and how light the clutch pedal feels. Shifts are fast and feel silky smooth to give a whole other dimension to the driving experience. Then accelerate hard and enjoy the power as the turbo pins you back in your seat without any lag. Find a winding road with some sharp curves and feel how well the deep side bolsters keep you firmly in place and how the sport tuned suspension with wide grippy low profile Pirelli tires hug the pavement. Drive over some bumps and see how the suspension gives a secure yet comfortable ride. At the next traffic light, step on the brakes and feel how smoothly they perform with no pedal pulsations or pulling to one side. So whether on congested city streets, open highways, or twisting mountain roads, you will be amazed how smooth, quick and comfortable this Jetta is to drive.

The car is in excellent condition inside and out. It has a beautiful dent-free body and the paint looks great with deep gloss and shine. It has been fully detailed, first with Meguiar’s Iron Decon to remove iron particles from the finish, then the paint was cleaned with Meguiar’s Smooth Surface Clay System to remove embedded contaminants, next it was polished with Meguiar’s M110 Mirror Glaze polishing compound, and finally topped off with Meguiar’s M27 Pro Ceramic Hybrid Sealant for a durable long lasting brilliant high gloss shine. The wheels were removed and detailed inside as well, and the tires coated with Meguiar’s Endurance Tire Gel on both sides. How obsessed is that! All the glass, moldings, trim and emblems are excellent. The car has aftermarket window tint. Keep the tint on at your discretion, as I can’t be responsible if your state has a problem with it or if you get a ticket because of it.

In addition, the underbody is excellent as well and has all it’s underbody panels installed. If a mechanic forgets to replace a panel or you run over a curb and break one off, your mileage may suffer as the aerodynamics under a car are just as important as above it. If you are looking at other Jettas for sale, check underneath and make sure all the following panels are still intact as they are not cheap to replace.

The interior is in great condition as well. It has excellent carpet, upholstery, dashboard and door panels with no cracks, rips or tears. The car comes with a set of factory Jetta logo winter floor mats. The car doesn‘t appear to have been smoked in. In fact, it’s not even equipped with a lighter. The trunk looks like it was never used and the engine compartment has been fully detailed and is clean enough to eat off of.

Mechanically it runs and drives excellent. The engine runs strong while accelerating smoothly and it starts instantly whether hot or cold. The transmission shifts precisely and effortlessly throughout the gears and the clutch is silky smooth. The a/c blows ice cold. The steering wheel is on dead center going down the road with no shakes or vibrations at speed, the brakes are firm with no pedal pulsations or pulling to one side when stopping and the suspension is tight. The only issue to note is an occasional check engine light every few months for a small evaporative emissions leak code. It passed emissions inspection when the light was off so I haven’t looked into it any further. It has a set of four new Pirelli P7 Cinturato All-Season tires size 245/40R18 which are two sizes wider than the 225 width of the base 18 inch Jetta tires, and provide exceptional cornering power and handling agility. Made for Euro sport coupes and sports sedans, these are an ultra high performance tire design with an all-season tread combining maximum grip on dry roads while still providing ample traction on ice and in light snow. They have low noise levels and low rolling resistance (LLR) for improved fuel economy, as well as long wear characteristics earning an excellent treadwear rating of 500 for maximum service life. In addition, they just look terrific. They have been balanced with coated black stick-on wheel weights mounted on the inside of the wheel for a super clean look, unlike uncoated weights that rust or gray weights that stand out.

The car was fully checked out and serviced with over $4,000 worth of new or recent parts, maintenance and repairs with original Volkswagen or other name brand parts so that only your enjoyment rather than your immediate attention will be required on delivery. Some of the items checked or serviced include:

  • New Valvoline Euro 5W40 (502 00 spec) synthetic oil change

Overall this is a very sharp Volkswagen Jetta Wolfsburg Edition that looks great in this Black Uni color. Expect to get many questions and complements from total strangers at the mall or supermarket parking lot. If you are the least bit shy, DON’T buy this car. I warn you. But if you are serious about buying a very clean MK6 Volkswagen Jetta in general, and a Wolfsburg MK6.5 specifically, this is about as low as they go in this condition. Sure, you can find many of the plain Jettas that look nice and seem like good deals for $5,000 or $6,000, but if after getting it home you have to spend another $2,000 or $3,000 on service, repairs, paint and bodywork, it’s no bargain. Remember, you can get a great deal online with prices sometimes way below retail, but nobody is going to “steal” a vehicle and no seller is going to give one away either.

Also when comparing prices, remember the things that you won’t have to spend money on soon after getting it home. With this car you won’t have to spend $1,000-$2,000 on paint or bodywork, you won’t have to spend $1,000 on a timing belt service, you won’t have to spend $800 for a new set of tires, you won’t have to spend $400 on a complete front brake service, you won’t have to spend $400 on a complete rear brake service, you won’t have to spend $300 on a coolant, transmission fluid and brake fluid change, you won’t have to spend $300 on a tune-up and filters service and you won’t have to spend $300 on any upcoming scheduled maintenance. With many of the other listings on Ebay, Facebook, Craigslist or on dealers lots, you’re lucky if they even check the oil before delivery. When comparing this car to the others, also keep in mind that this Jetta runs great, is fully serviced, hasn’t been smoked in and is clean inside and out. Also check if they come with both remotes and key blades because a new set from the dealer, with programming and cutting, is going to cost you $250 to $300. And if you lost the only fob to the car, it’ll cost three times as much to replace the security module plus the towing charge to bring the car to a dealer.

The car comes with all the books:

218

Two factory switchblade remote key fobs:

219

220

A set of factory Jetta logo winter floor mats:

221

And a front license plate bracket if your state requires it:

222

If you are looking for a MK6 Jetta in beautiful condition at a great price, then this car is hard to beat. Also remember that we don’t charge dealer processing fees or document fees that many other listings have for $200 or more and bury in their fine print. Located in the Suburban Washington DC area. Delivery possible at reasonable cost. For more information email me at atikovi@email.com
